Siddharth Shah

Dr. Siddharth Shah is a fellowship trained spine surgeon with special interest in paediatric spinal deformities, minimally invasive spinal surgery and complex

degenerative spinal surgery. Dr. Shah completed his orthopaedic training from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai, India in 2015. On completing his training, he spent one year working as a Speciality Registrar in the Orthopaedic Unit of Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital, Mumbai, India. Following this, in 2016, he travelled to Queen Mary Hospital & Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital, Hong Kong, as a Visiting Fellow, spending 3 weeks to learn complex spinal deformity surgery under the guidance of Prof. Kenneth Cheung, Prof. Keith Luk & Prof. Yat-Wa Wong. Thereafter, from 2016-2018 he pursued a comprehensive two year speciality spinal surgical training at P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Mumbai, India, under the mentorship of Dr. Samir Dalvie, successfully completing his thesis and graduating with a Spinal Fellowship awarded by the Association of Spine Surgeons of India (ASSI).

While pursuing the fellowship, Dr. Shah was awarded the prestigious Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) Global Outreach Program Scholarship in 2017, wherein he attended the 52nd SRS Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, USA. In the following year, 2018, he received two further awards from the Scoliosis Research Society: the SRS Educational Scholarship to attend the 53rd Annual Meeting in Bologna, Italy and Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) Fellowship for a month long training in complex spinal deformity surgery, which he undertook under the mentorship of Prof. Lawrence G. Lenke at the esteemed New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Centre, New York, USA.  The same year, he was also awarded with a one month Visiting Clinical Fellowship by the International Group for Advancement of Spinal Science (IGASS) which he spent with Dr. Bernard Meyer, at the Department of Neurosurgery, Klinikum Rechts der Isar, Technical University of Munich, Munich, Germany, learning minimally invasive spine surgery and anterior spinal surgical procedures.

Dr. Shah has been active in research and academics, from pursuing his post-graduation thesis on ‘Osteoporotic Spinal Fractures’ to his fellowship thesis on ‘Interbody Fusion in Lumbar Spinal Tuberculosis’. He has published >10 peer reviewed articles in indexed journals and has also authored a textbook chapter on ‘Congenital Scoliosis’. He has multiple scientific presentations in both national and international spinal conferences alike, is a keen attendee of scientific meetings and is an active member of AO Spine Foundation and the Association of Spine Surgeons of India.

Dr. Shah joined as a Spinal Fellow at The Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery (CSSS), Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospitals, UK, in February 2019, to advance patient care, gain finesse and further his specialist training in complex spinal surgery, working at the leading centre of excellence in the field.
